Some glimpses from Ram Leela ground during Anna Hazare's fast for Jan-Lokpal Bill

I know I am quite late for posting these photographs when nothing is in action. But at same time, it gives me an opportunity to make people rethink about this movement and realize that it was one of the needed movement, but what would be the results? Anyway, let's have a look at Ram Leela Ground during Anna's fast for Jan-Lokpal Bill... Here is what I saw during my short visit of 30 minutes to Ram Leela Ground in Delhi (Capital of India !!!)

There was Anna's Rasoi in Ram Leela ground for folks who have come to join Anna for this cause. People from almost every state of India joined Anna Hazare in Ram Leela maidan. And it's understandable that all can't fast because of various reasons. But it's a great thing that people at least stepped up and joined the movement !!!

The other part was the cleanness around... And seriously it was really sad to see the places around Anna's Rasoi ... It was stinking like anything... I could not bear that smell for few seconds.. I had to cross that area and I tried my best to cross it ASAP even when there were lot of folks lined up for getting food...

I am not sure who should have taken care of the cleanness ... But for sure Delhi Authority could have been very effective !!!

While observing various things at Ram Leela Ground, three folks standing nearby asked me click their photograph in their special style :) Such places/events give another opportunity to interact with various type pf people as well. Ram Leela ground was full of passionate folks as well as people who were there for unknown reasons.. That is what I felt and I can be wrong !

'Bhaya Maari Fotu bhi khainch de...'

When I came out of New Delhi Metro station, there were lots of folks selling Indian Flags, Caps with captions like 'Mein Anna Hun' and lot of other stuff like badges etc... There were also few folks who were helping with colors... As some folks preferred to go to Ram Leela with Indian Flag on their faces... All these things were really cheap but a good source of income for folks who were doing all this... But I was wondering what would have happened to all the stuff after sudden break of Anna's Fast ... But at same time, I am sure about the fact that people would have bought many things during last moment for final celebrations at India Gate and other important places in Delhi !!!

There was another part of this whole movement. A good opportunity to get some job and earn money.

I have been to various events like Independence day celebrations, Republic days etc but this was first time I was so much Indian Flags... I know many folks around me had questioned about the correctness of those flags and stuff used... But in my opinion, if people feel respect about it and it hardly matters... Although it would have been best to have these flags with correct colors, quality n all... But if we look at logistics and pockets of people who wanted to join this movement.. I see passion overriding all the things hyped by people who didn't join in, but preferred to comment by sitting in their offices/homes...

Did I miss that all folks from Delhi were lined up to get entry into the main ground? Yes, everyone was much disciplined about being in line of about 2 kilometers and get entry to Ram Leela Ground in Delhi... Good to see all such good things and wish that such things happen again n again, at least to make Indians realize that we also need to be much disciplined than what we are...

It seems many other organizations were supporting this movement by arranging stuff like food for folks outside Ram Leela Ground... Although I could not figure out the relationship of this anti-corruption movement and trucks outside giving food for folks working around.. I don't think, these people were there to join the movement.. Anyway, feeding someone is not bad at all...

There were lot of known personalities at Ram Leela Ground including Aamir Khan... Everyone used to come on main stage one by one and address all folks on the ground... Some of them were really great speakers and really full of passion !!! It was same day when Anna Hazare ended his fast...

After this movement, many media channels started calling Anna Hazare as Gadhi of 20th Century... btw, how many Indians still know about Anna Hazare and his life.. Even many folks even doubt about him without knowing the reality and at the same time, many are his fans ...

Kisan Baburao Hazare About born 15 June 1937), popularly known as Anna Hazare is an Indian social activist and a prominent leader in the 2011 Indian anti-corruption movement, using non-violent methods following the teachings of Mahatma Gandhi. Mr. Hazare also contributed to the development and structuring of Ralegan Siddhi, a village in Parner taluka of Ahmednagar district, Maharashtra, India. He was awarded the Padma Bhushan—the third-highest civilian award—by the Government of India in 1992 for his efforts in establishing this village as a model for others.

Within a few days of Anna Hazare's first fast demanding a strong Lokpal (on 5 April 2011), supporters across various cities of India started a campaign known as 'I Am Anna Hazare', which is similar to the 'We Are All Khaled Said campaign well known in the Egyptian uprising. At during Anna Hazare's second fast, the topi, the cap which Anna Hazare became synonymous with, became almost a fashion statement. Sales of the topis hit an all time high. Kiran Bedi declared that the 'I am Anna' topi should be used as a deterrence method whenever someone asked for a bribe. She went to say that the topi should be always kept in one's bag and whenever anybody ask for a bribe, the topi should be shown to them.

On 20 August 2011 thousands came to the Ramlila Maidan in New Delhi to show their support for Hazare, while 'his advisers made television appearances to rally public support and defend themselves against criticism that their protest campaign and refusal to compromise is undermining India's parliamentary process.' The National Campaign for People’s Right to Information (NCPRI) condemned Hazare's deadline for passing the bill as undermining democracy, which operates by 'holding wide-ranging consultations and discussions, allowing for dissent and evolving a consensus. ...He has the right to protest and dissent. But nobody can claim it as an absolute right and deny the right of dissent to others.' The Congress party confirmed that Maharashtra Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Umesh Chandra Sarangi (who has a history of mediating between Hazare and government officials) was meeting with the social activist again 'to find points of consensus and defuse the situation'. On 21 August 2011 'tens of thousands' came to Ramlila Maidan to support Hazare as he sat on an elevated platform. It was reported that Hazare at that point had 'lost more than seven pounds since beginning his fast', despite this he stated 'I will not withdraw my hunger strike until the Jan Lokpal bill is passed in the Parliament. I can die but I will not bend.' Hazare ended his fast on 28 August 2011, after the Indian Government had passed the resolution for the Lokpal Bill unanimously...

He was admitted to Medanta Medicity, Gurgaon for post-fast care. He had lost 7.5 kg and was very dehydrated after the 288 hour long fast.

On 16 August 2011, Hazare was arrested four hours before the planned indefinite hunger strike. Rajan Bhagat, spokesman for Delhi Police, said police arrested Hazare under a legal provision that bans public gatherings and protests at the park in Delhi where he was planning to begin his hunger strike. Police took that action after Hazare refused to meet the conditions put forward by police for allowing the protest. The conditions included restricting the length of the fast to three days and the number of protesters at the site to 5,000. Later in the afternoon, Anna was produced before a magistrate who offered him bail but Anna Hazare refused to provide the bail bond. The magistrate sent him judicial custody for seven days and he was taken to Tihar jail. After announcements by Prashant Bhushan, local television, and social media sites (including Facebook), a march of thousands in support of Hazare began from the India Gate to Jantar Mantar.

Ohh yes, this was something special and I was also confused about it... Do these children really know about such movements clearly? This is one of the question raised by many folks...
