A Day with THE Chef VIKAS KHANNA at Blue Frog, Delhi during Saffola Masala Oat Blogger Meet || 'BIndas Punjabi'

Yesterday we had an invite to participate in a Blogger Meet organized by Saffola Masala Oats and Vikas Khanna was main guest there. He flew from US to India for this event and it was really an exciting opportunity for us to interact with one of the best Chefs in the world. After meeting I found him a great person as well.Let's check out this Photo Journey and know more about my personal experiences of this sepcial day with Bindas Punjabi who is based in US now. Usually such blogger meets are great ways to interact with other bloggers from North India, but this time most of the bloggers were excited to meet Vikas Khanna in Person. Almost every blogger was on time and as expected Chef Vikas Khanna made us wait for some time but it was worth. As he joined us at Blue Frog with his amazing smile, the whole environment changed immediately. Probably I was least aware of him. I knew very basic stuff about him and everyone else had probably all details about his past life and his lifestyle. Girl Bloggers were really mad about the event and we could literally see lot of unusual stuff that doesn't happen during other meets. Anyways, it was great to meet him in person and understand the great Chef. I loved when we started talking in Punjabi & Hindi, although he couldn't control to talk in English in between. His style was awesome and he was continuously cracking some subtle Punjabi jokes in between. Of course, he shared some great tips about food and how different ingredients can be used in innovative way. Born in Amritsar, Vikas Khanna began his culinary experience as a helper in his grandmother's kitchen and learned the art of cooking & the use of spices from her. He talked about his mom many times and related food with love. And had some great views about food and mothers who feed the whole family with love. He began developing recipes at a very young age. He graduated from the Welcomgroup Graduate School of Hotel Administration and established SAANCH, a cultural festival gala, to bring together various foods and traditions from different parts of India. This festival has been an important event in the college's calendar. He has worked for the Taj, Oberoi, Welcomgroup and Leela Group of Hotels and with some of the most influential chefs of the world including Gordon Ramsay, Bobby Flay, Jean-Georges Vongerichten. Above photograph shows Vikas interacting with bloggers who participated in cooking contests. And there were two contestants out of 12. He really impressed everyone out there. Chef Vikas Khanna completed his graduation from Welcomgroup Graduate School of Hotel Administration also known as WGSHA, Manipal. He has also studied at Cornell University, Culinary Institute of America, and New York University. Vikas also appears in Marquis Who's Who in America 2012 edition. He himself made two dishes and talked a lot of Tindas :). And I can't believe the depth he reached while talking about tindas and various ways to cook it. btw, Saffola Masala Oats were the highlight of the event. Second round of cooking involved dishes created with Oats. Vikas met all contestants, talked about their ideas and tasted their dishes. Oat Pizza was one of his favorites which also won the contest.
