Quick Glimpses of 15th Raid De Himalaya through Varun Chaudhary's Travelling Camera || A Maruti Suzuki & Himalayan Motorsports event -Chapter 2013

Varun Chaudhary has been sharing some of the great Motorsport Photo Journeys with us for last few years and this time it's about recent chapter of Raid de Himalaya 2013. It was 15th Raid-de-Himalaya event by Himalayan Motorsports which started from Shimla and goes towards Leh through one of the most difficult terrains in Himalayas. Let's check out this Photo Journey and know about the action during these couple of days on roads...So this time Raid-de-Himalaya happened from 4th October to 12th October. On 4th & 5th October 2013, administrative and Technical Scrutiny happened ensure safety norms are adhered to as per the FiA, FIM and Federation regulations. All this happened in Shimla and other hills around it. A Ceremonial Start happened in the afternoon of the 5th October 2013, along with drivers briefing and the press meet. Raj Singh Rathore had come with polaris and many of the contestants had eyes on Raj for a winning position this time, but unfortunately he had to quit because of technical failure on the way.On 6th October 2013, riders started from Shima and day's halt was Manali. On first day there was 3 stages to Manali. Short, fast, yet testing enough .. And day1 is most challenging for folks participating first time. And many of the folks get out of the race on day 1 itself. There can be multiple reason for getting out of the race.. Technical breakdown is one of them..Second day started with ride from Manali | 7th October 2013 Halt for the day was Kaza. It was a beautiful run over the first pass of the Pir Panjal range - Rohtang. Day 2 had one of the iconic stage from Gramphoo to Losar . This time it was rougher than ever. Just this one stage for the day saw the rally get into Kaza... And then it was time to repair and get ready to continue the next journey. On 8th October 2013, the journey started from Kaza and plan was to come back to Kaza via Dhankar... It was day of exploring The Monastery Necklace with dirty motors roaring around the hills.. It was a day filled with climbs and descents with awesome landscapes as the route winds by one monastery, then another and yet another... Stages of third day were tight, weather was unpredictable and tough competition of-course :)On 9th October 2013, again all riders and the convoy started from Kaza to ride through Gramphoo, Patseo and Sarchu to hit Pang. The 4th day of the rally promised to be a long one. Terrible stage back to Gramphoo and then the superfast one from Patseo to Sarchu promised high altitude action beyond compare! At Pang, the team stayed at Army barak. Pang was relatively in pain regions but was chilled out there. On 10th October 2013, all of us started from Pang towards Leh through Debring... The day was extremely fast paced. Two stages that were both fast and tricky tested the nerves & skill .. The Himalayas watched overOn 11th October 2013, it was again a tour back to Leh via Wari La... Comparatively a short day. Definitely not an easy one though. A single stage - all tarmac - but extremely technical. Most were trying to hold it all together till the finish line... During the final stage Sanjay Aggarwal made best use of his skills and Grand Vitara to take second place. The last day - 12th October 2013- It was Prize Distribution Ceremony which concluded by 1300 hrs, followed by lunch.During the Raid-de-Himalayan event, security is one of the main concern and team ensures that everyone is hit along with their motors & backup plan. Apart from that rescue teams are appointed at different posts on the way and there was a chopper for emergency cases. Fortunately we didn't need it during the event and everyone was happy about the fact.Helly holds the overall first position of Raid-de-Himalaya 2013 ! A very fast dude from Austria. And it was his birthday on prize distribution day. Here is a nice account on the ride of first day - ttp://www.motoroids.com/news/maruti-suzuki-raid-de-himalaya-2013-day-1-results/Raid-de-Himalaya is one of the most popular Motorsports events in India and riders starts waiting for next event from the day the previous one ends !!!
