Boat-ride around Bilaspur on your way to Kullu-Manali, Himachal Pradesh

Folks visiting Kullu, Manali, Kasol, Naggar, Rohtang Pass or Mandi cross through Bilaspur town. Many times people intend to take another break before Chandigarh and relax a bit more in the lap of nature. Bilaspur is one of the main towns one has to cross when visiting Kullu Valley and moving back towards Chandigarh/Delhi. And Govind Sagar Lake is nearby.

I never visited Govind Sagar lake near Bilaspur till I was invited for a religious ritual by one my relatives. I found that lot of boats can be seen around the shoreline, which are used to commute on daily basis. It seems that, there are few steam boats which can be used to commute towards Bhakhra Dam During this visit, I also got to know that few temples get submerged into the water of Govind Sagar Lake. And most of these can be seen during summers, when water level is low. I found this place quite interesting but at the same time it can be very hot in summers. I have never heard about Bilaspur in past but when I visited, I thought of sharing because lot of viewers of this blog like doing ad-hoc road journeys and don't follow the typical check-lists shared all over the web. Such experiences are worth mentioning for true travellers who make plans on the go. I would be more than happy if you have more questions about Bilaspur or Govind Sagar Lake in Himachal Pradesh.

If you liked this post and found it helpful, I would request you to follow these things when traveling -

- Manage your waste well and don’t litter
- Use dustbins. Tell us if you went to a place and found it hard to locate a dustbin.
- Avoid bottle waters in hills. Usually you get clean water in hills and water bottles create lot of mess in our ecosystem.
- Say big no to plastic and avoid those unhealthy snacks packed in plastic bags. Rather buy fruits.

- Don't play loud blaring music in forests of jungle camps. You are a guest in that ecosystem and disturbing the locals (humans and animals) is not polite
