Tiger Tourism in India is much talked topic an there were some discussions that Tiger Tourism will be banned in India. India has maximum number of Tigers in the world and hence it attracts a lot of tourists from various parts of the world. This Photo Journey shares some facts about Tiger Tourism in India and how various wildlife stakeholders think about it. Since Tiger count was decreasing in the past, Indian court had given a judgement to stop tourism in core Tiger reserves and folks responded to this judgement very differently. Statistics show that National parks which are most frequently visited by Tourists have high count of Tigers over a period of time. And Tigers have disappeared from regions where there was hardly any tourism. Recently I met a Wildflife Conservation officer and he had the same opinion that many of the things in our country are preserved only because of Tourism - be it the Heritage like Taj Mahal, or Wildlife.   Some of the popular Tiger Rserves in India are - Corbett in Uttrakhand; Ranthambore in Rajasthan; Kanha, Bandhavgarh & Panna in Madhya Pradesh, Kaziranga in Asam, Meighat in Maharashtra; Bandipur in Karnataka; Periyar in Kerala; Nagarajunasagar Srisailam Tiger Reserve in Anhdra Pradesh. There are approximately 40 tiger reserves in India. Tiger reserves are set up throughout India to provide a protected environment for animals still in the wild. Resorts and villages were set up for tourists, local as well as foreign, to see the tiger habitats and perhaps catch a glimpse of the big cat. The frequent visits inside the forest repel poachers and hence it proved to be a good activity to conserve wildlife. Madhya Pradesh has one of the best tourism eco system because of 6 tiger reserves in the state. Tourism is still on in all of the Wildlife National Parks across the country and encouraging for conservation of Wildlife, especially Tigers. Tiger Tourism is very important for India and hence it's conservation as well. Many of the NGOs, individuals, government authorities have joined hands towards conservation of Tigers in our country. And because of great efforts for #SaveOurTigers, we have been able to increase the count of Tigers in past fewyears. Tiger Tourism is win-win situation for everyone - For folks involved in tourism activities earn good money which boosts overall economy of our country, the conservationists are happy that count is increasing with time and there is less risk to the tigers in various core forests in the country. In National Parks like Ranthambore, lot of foreign tourist visit every year. There are various tourists who visit some of the selected national parks every year and prefer to have multiple Safaris inside the forest areas.Landscapes of different national parks are different hence every national park offers a different experience. Almost everyone of us know folks around us who have visited these Tiger reserves more than once.

yes, tourism (eco tourism, done ethically) is a major factor in conservation of wild animals...a fact proven in africa.....
